January 2013 Update:
Happy New year, and Bonne Année, or, in Wolof, Dewenati!
That confetti you see flying the attached photo is not for New Year's, but to celebrate Will's homecoming for Christmas break. He arrived on the 23rd and we have much enjoyed his being here with us! We just returned Sunday from a long weekend at acampement ( think state park type accomodations but with good food prepared for you ) on a narrow island between the Senegal River and the ocean, near St. Louis ( not the one in Missouri ). It was a nice, relaxing time.
The kids, and Kathy, have been glad for a break from school. The kids go back on January 14th, Kathy a few days earlier.
You may be wondering, "Where is the Martin family Christmas letter and photo that I always love to receive?" Well, it's going to be late this year. Think of it as a Martin Luther King Junior birthday letter, or maybe a Washington's birthday letter.
Bill and the rest of the ERC staff are looking forward to our next weeklong English camp January 21-25 with the theme of "Olympic Days: Running the Race." We'll be watching and discussing Chariots of Fire, listening to Toby Mac's song Eye on It, and culminating our time with a look at Hebrews 12:1-2...
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
May the Lord bless you in 2013 and may you find peace in Him.
Bill for all the Martins
