MOPS (Mothers of preschoolers)

MOPS

   WHAT IS MOPS?

Picture

MOPS stands for Mother's of Preschoolers, and by preschoolers , we mean kids from birth to Kindergarten. We believe that better moms make a better world and we are committed to making sure every mom knows she's not alone. MOPS groups allow you to meet and build relationships with moms in your local community. Along with meetings we also host play dates and mom's night out during the year.

Childcare
There will be very limited childcare available for those who absolutely need it but you must let us know ahead of time. The hope is that by having it in the evening more husbands will be able to be home to cover childcare and put kiddos to bed, thus giving you a much deserved night off twice a month!
To MOPS moms old and new alike:

After a few weeks of waiting for responses and reaching out, it has become obvious that we are not going to be able to pull off a regular MOPS meeting on Wednesday mornings. We do have some MOPPETS workers willing to help and others who wanted to but cannot handle wearing a mask for that long, but when all is said and done we do not have enough. I'm very sorry to disappoint anyone but please know we tried our hardest. Our plans are not always God's plans and I am still considering this an answer to prayer because we prayed for His will in this.

So, the leadership has come up with what we feel is our best option forward at this point...

We were looking at going ahead with MOPS book study starting in October on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday mornings as it has always run. The MOPPETS we have available should be enough to safely run that program since there are usually far less children (again with anyone who is able to not bring their kids doing so). Then we are hoping to run our regular MOPS meetings on 1st and 3rd WEDNESDAY EVENINGS from 6:30-8:30 PM starting on the 3rd Wednesday of September, the 16th. There will be very limited childcare available for those who absolutely need it but you must let us know ahead of time. The hope is that by having it in the evening more husbands will be able to be home to cover childcare and put kiddos to bed, thus giving you a much deserved night off twice a month!

For book study as well as anyone who needs childcare for our evening meetings- please note that we have researched and will be following all CDC guidelines for childcare. To do so the following changes have been implemented:
MOPPETS will have to have a temperature check when they arrive OR moms are also allowed to confirm that they checked at home.
MOPPETS will have to have a visual inspection by a greeter or worker for any obvious signs of illness.
All children and adults will have to either use hand sanitizer or wash hands for 20 seconds upon arriving.
MOPPET workers will have to wear masks (children will not)
Workers will have to wash hands before and after giving bottles, changing diapers, helping with the bathroom, serving snack, and after handling trash.

We may ask MOPPET workers to try to keep track of which toys were played with as we may have to disinfect after they leave.

We also will likely be micromanaging the child placement in various rooms as we'll keep families of children together and not separate by ages. That way we may only have two or three families that a worker would be in contact with. We also plan to open more rooms so that there are roughly only 5 children per room with an adult and teen helper.

As for MOPS itself, we are also revamping things in order to be able to follow regulations and help each of you feel as comfortable as possible with returning. We will not be using tables but will be sitting in socially distanced circles of chairs with TV trays for your food and coffee. Masks will be required while moving around the building and while getting snacks and coffee but not while sitting at your seat. We will also have hand sanitizer in various locations but especially at the beginning of the food table and each person will need to use it before getting food.

We realize this will not work for everyone and we apologize  to anyone whom this does not work for. Please know that this is temporary though!!!! Our goal is to go back to our normal schedule  as soon as that is possible.

Thank you so much for dealing with all of the uncertainty  and last minute changes. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the 16th!!!!
